How to Get Pregnant Fast After Trying for Years
Another month comes and goes, yet you are once again visited by that nasty red monster otherwise known as your period. Month in and month out you are trying to conceive, yet getting pregnant seems to be the elusive dream for you and your spouse. Why can everyone around you get pregnant, yet you can’t? If you have been trying for a long time to get pregnant, here are some tips on how to get pregnant quickly and safely.
Start with a Trip to the Doctor
If you have not already done so, you need to schedule a visit with a fertility doctor. Many fertility problems, like lack of ovulation, can be easily treated. Others may require therapies that are a bit more invasive.
Before you visit the doctor, you may want to make a calendar showing your ovulation and menstruation dates for the past few months. Also, you might want to record when you and your spouse were intimate. You may find that you are working with a timing issue, and this information will be helpful for the doctor.
Remember that infertility problems are often not the woman’s problem. Make sure both partners, male and female, undergo a thorough evaluation to determine if there are any underlying conditions causing the infertility. There are no tips on how to get pregnant that will help if there is an underlying physical cause of the conception problems.
Preparing the Way for Baby
If your doctor does not find any problems that are causing your infertility, you may need to focus on changing your baby making patterns. Before you do, however, you need to make sure that your body is as healthy as possible, so that when you do succeed at getting pregnant, your baby will have a healthy environment to live its first few months in. for instance, start taking folic acid as soon as you possibly can. Taking folic acid before becoming pregnant reduces the risk of neural tube defects by as much as 70%, yet most women do not start taking it until they see that positive line on the pregnancy test.
Next, eliminate caffeine from your diet as much as possible. Some new studies indicate that caffeine can lead to first trimester miscarriages and slow fetal development. Excessive caffeine drinking may even lead to fertility problems, although this has not yet been proven.
Next, eliminate any prescription drugs that could be harmful to your baby. Also, make sure that your vaginal area is not contributing to your fertility problems. Remember that scented sprays and tampons, lubricants, saliva, and even douching can all kill sperm before they have a chance to reach and fertilize the egg. You could be inadvertently causing your own conception problems with these types of products, so stop using them.
Chart Your Fertility
If you have not already begun to do so, now is the time to start charting your fertility periods. This is especially important if you have irregular menstrual cycles, as this can make it difficult for you to determine when you are fertile. To do this, take your basal body temperature every morning and write it down. Before you ovulate, your temperature will be between 97 and 97.5 degrees. When you ovulate, your body temperature will increase a couple of tenths of a degree. This elevation in temperature will stay in place until you start your period. Right before this time of elevated temperature, you are going to be fertile.
